RELIGION & VALUES

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the seventh week of Term 3 and the fourth week in the return to remote and flexible learning. Whilst we know and aware of the challenges around us, I have been heartened by our students’ understanding and strong cooperation of our parents.

For Religion and Values during remote learning, students will work on Fridays between 12:45pm to 1:30pm during their specialist class. Each week on Friday parents will receive a message (on SEQTA Direct Messages) which guides you about the topic. In this term, every class is attending 10 minutes ZOOM sessions which give me an opportunity to follow up on given tasks. For memorisation, please help your child in practising the Surah or Dua which is in their Home Learning Packs. Please remember students are getting marks according to the accuracy and fluency of their work.

This year, Term 3 started with Eid Qurban fundraising. On this occasion, as in previous years, Sirius College in association with ARO (Australian Relief Organisation), collected funds for the people in need. Many activities had been organised e.g. Out of school uniform day, Eid Qurban competition, class donations, stationery stall. Students enthusiastically participated in these activities which has helped in raising the funds. I am very thankful to all the students who participated in these activities. I am especially thankful to those students who operated the stationery stall.

Following is the list of winning students for the Eid Qurban competition.

Group 1: Foundation to – Year 2

Group 2: Year 3 – Year 6

Congratulations to all the students who won the prizes. It was very difficult for the judges to decide the winners. I thoroughly appreciated all the hard effort that the students put in to create their fine pieces of work. Thank you to the judging panel as well.

Class Donations:

The class who raised the highest amount of fund was Year 5. They raised a total amount of $459. Congratulations to Year 5 students, it was a great effort as a group, well done!

Special acknowledgement:

The school has acknowledged and appreciated two very special students who donated their pocket money for the Eid Qurban fund. They were two sisters, Ajwa Ali from Year 3 and Ayat Fatima from Year 2.

This year, Sirius College Shepparton campus has raised $2, 400 which was a big fundraiser for a small campus in a short period of time. This would not be possible without our students’ contribution and our parents’ support. I am thankful to every single one of you and appreciate all your efforts and kind thoughts.

Let’s continue to work together to keep our students safe, healthy and engaged in their learning.
